He compares you to NO ONE ELSE!!!

Why do you think we as girls have such a hard time comparing ourselves to others?  We often base our own self-worth off of how we compare to our peers.  Some even get so caught up in trying to keep up with others that they lose sight of who they truly are deep down.  Many of us are even our own worst critic and struggle with truly loving and accepting ourself!  (I am often guilty of this just as much as anyone else).

The devil loves when this happens, to Christians especially, because if we don't love ourselves then we will have a hard time understanding and accepting God's love.  We may also try to fill our emptiness with things that will lead to a path of destruction in the attempt to fit in.  (I'm sure you know someone this has happened to).

I have shared this with many of you before, but one of my favorite poems growing up was by Roy Lessin, a reknowned Christian poet, and it is known as the "Just Think" poem...

"Just think, you're here not by chance,
but by God's choosing.
His hand formed you and made you the person you are. He compares you to no one else--you are one of a kind. You lack nothing that His grace can't give you.
He has allowed you to be here at this time in history
to fulfill His special purpose for this generation"

Wow! Those words are POWERFUL...and more importanty, they are true!  Instead of comparing yourself to others...love yourself and your circumstances.

Instead of trying to please the crowd...seek to please God alone!  If everything you do is motivated by seeking God's approval, then you will have no reason to doubt yourself.  Also, be true to who you are, not what you think others expect you to be to "fit in".  God made you just the way you are (in HIS image!) and He has a special purpose for you!  What's not to love about that?!

The point is...if we love ourself and allow God to love us like He wants to, then we won't worry so much about what others think.  And, that ultimately leads to a life of freedom in Christ!!
